The Commission on Population and Development Region IX continues to capacitate its partner agencies and local government counterparts on the Pre-Marriage Orientation and Counseling (PMOC).
POPCOM recently conducted a pre-marriage orientation training to the Provincial/City and Municipal Population Officers and partner agencies in the region. A total of 30 participants attended the 3 day activity that aims to update them on the new manual of the Pre-Marriage Orientation and Counseling. The activity was held at City Inn Hotel, in Zamboanga City last March 26-28, 2019.
Pre marriage orientation and counseling is a requirement for those applying for marriage license. Topics in the PMOC includes marriage and relations, home management, responsible parenthood and family planning and maternal, neonatal, child and adolescent health and nutrition (MNCHAN)
As a pre-requisite to receive a Certificate of Completion and be considered a marriage counselor, a return demo was conducted to assess and measure the level of skills and abilities developed by the participants in conducting pre-marriage activities in their localities. Nine (9) would-be couples from the different barangays in Zamboanga City and who are applying for a marriage license, were given pre-marriage orientation.
